Black-Eared Kite - Gigrin Farm, Mid-Wales

Black Kite – Gigrin Farm, Mid-Wales

The year began with my second Lesser Scaup, this time an adult male at Cosmeston CP in Cardiff. A few weeks later, another good bird was added to the British List – namely a Black Kite which was feeding every day at Gigrin Farm in Mid-Wales. An April holiday to Scotland provided a good number of birds including; Surf Scoter, Black Grouse, Capercaillie, Slavonian Grebe and Short-Eared Owl. A summer holiday to the Provence area in the south of France gave a few decent birds – namely; Short-Toed Eagle, Turtle Dove, Alpine Swift, Roller, Black Woodpecker, Sardinian Warbler and Western Bonelli’s Warbler.
