2010

Dipper - a mega rarity on my patch with only one record.

Dipper – a mega rarity on my patch with only one record.

The new decade began with two British ticks for me; a Great-White Egret and a Bittern at Hendre Lake in Cardiff. A quiet spring followed, but this was made up for when a Marmora’s Warbler was successfully twitched on the Blorenge near Abergavenny. The rest of the year was relatively quiet on the birding scene, however a good number of species were added to my Patch List. These included: Jack Snipe, Tree Pipit, Dipper, Whinchat and Spotted Flycatcher. Whimbrel and Lesser Whitethroat were also among the commoner species that were added to my British List in 2010.
