Early Vists to my New Patch – 28/ix/13

My very first visit to my new patch produced a reasonable haul. The first stop was Blackpill, and things were kicked off when a fair number of Mediterranean Gulls were seen amongst the large Gull flock on the beach. Further out were a few waders – mainly Oystercatcher, but four Bar-Tailed Godwits and a Dunlin were also seen. A small flock of Wigeon were present and amongst them were six early (Dark-Bellied) Brent Geese. A short while later, the remaining Kittiwakes on Mumbles pier were seen distantly and then a Sparrowhawk was seen further down the coast.

Visits to Three Cliffs Bay on the 25th and 29th October produced other species of interest such as Ringed Plover, Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker and Raven.
