A nice sunny visit to the Shire Valley near Bath this morning was a very welcome break from University. On arrival the RED-FLANKED BLUETAIL was showing, but in the middle of a twiggy bush, meaning that very little of it was actually visible. However, after a little while it began to move around, and eventually came out into the open and gave excellent views. It soon disappeared however, and didn’t show again whilst I was there. Unfortunately I didn’t manage any good photos of this bird (though many others have).
There were a few other bits and pieces around two Ravens flew around overhead with a few other corvids and a Buzzard. Also of note was a Skylark which called as it went overhead. A few Red-Legged Partridge were also seen in the fields further up the road.
