Changes to the Patch

Having birded my new ‘University’ patch for five months now, I have decided that some changes are in order. Birding the western most reaches of the area has been more difficult than I initially expected, due to the trouble I have experienced with travelling there. I have therefore decided to reduce the area by cutting the western end away. This has been replaced by the addition of the UBC Swansea University area, which includes Singleton and Brynmill Parks. The maps below demonstrate these changes:

These alterations have a few implications on the patch list. Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker and Meadow Pipit are all removed from the list. However, a host of parkland species have been added; Mute Swan, Mallard, Tufted Duck, Goosander, Moorhen, Long-Tailed Tit, Nuthatch, Treecreeper, Redwing, Mistle Thrush, Greenfinch, Siskin and Bullfinch. This means that the new patch list total is 73 species – a net gain of ten species. I look forward to adding to this total.
