Day 4 was a bit of a disappointment from a birding perspective. I travelled by train to Inverness, and then to Nairn, from where I cycled back to Loch Flemington. However, there was no sign of the American Coot during the five hours that I was there, which was disappointing considering it had been there for two months before.
I did manage to see a few birds of interest though, such as a few Hooded Crow, a few Tufted Duck, Goldeneye and Little Grebe. Over 1000 Pink-Footed Geese were seen, including a single flock of approximately 800 birds. Also, two Snipe, a distant Red Kite, a few Yellowhammer, good numbers of Linnet and a couple of Reed Bunting were seen.
