Scotland Trip – Day 8 – 19/iv/14

Back in the Edinburgh area, the only birding done today was a pleasant visit to the Aberdour area on the south Fife coast. Lots of Guillemot and Razorbill were offshore – most were in summer plumage. There was also a summer plumage Black-Throated Diver off the headland and good numbers of Cormorant and Shag, along with a couple of Fulmar and Kittiwake. Plenty of Eider were in the bay giving good views, a couple of Red-Breasted Merganser flew past, and six Red-Throated Diver – all in winter plumage – were offshore, one of them close in giving good scope views.
