For the first time in the holiday I actually had a pair of bins around my neck, as I headed out into Deshar Woods. However, after an hour of sitting around, all I had to show for it was a couple of Mistle Thrushes. As I headed for home however, suddenly things started to appear. Firstly, a couple of Goldcrests came into view, swiftly followed by several of the commoner Tits and a few Chaffinches. More Mistle Thrushes started to appear, until there were over twenty of them flying around, with there loud rattling calls apparently coming from all around. Then amongst the common species, a Tree Pipit was picked out on a dead tree with a couple of Spotted Flycatcher, and finally a Crested Tit was noted. Eventually another two birds were observed, feeding actively amongst the pines for some time.
