Scotland Trip – Days 9-18 – 27-4/vii-viii/14

A very quiet spell followed from a birding perspective. However, there were still some memorable moments. Highlights at Loch Morlich on the 27th were three Red-Throated Diver in flight, plenty of Goldeneye, Goosander and a Common Sandpiper.

On the 28th, the Ospreys showed fantastically well at Loch Insch, and we were able to paddle across the Loch to the island where the birds nest and watch their comings and goings from the canoes.

On the 1st, a short (and very wet) walk along the Spey at Boat of Garten, produced good views of Dipper, but the definite highlight of the day was an Otter which showed very well swimming in the river and running around on the opposite bank.
