We had not planned to do any birding on day seven, as we were travelling south and spending the day in the central belt. However, at around half eight, we had barely left Boat of Garten, when I noticed a group of gulls in a field by the road, and picked out the reported 1st-winter Iceland Gull. We turned the car around and stopped on the roadside briefly to have another look before we continued on our way.
We spent the morning in Stirling, and then went for a walk up west Lomond (near Auchtemurchy), Fife. The weather was hot and sunny, and there were an abundance of Meadow Pipits and Skylarks in song. There were a couple of Red Grouse and a Kestrel about too, which made for a pleasant afternoon.
