After an afternoon wander on the old patch – which produced little other than a Wood Warbler and a Tree Pipit – I visited Goldcliff with my Dad. There wasn’t a lot here either, but an adult and juvenile Little Ringed Plover were nice to see.
At dusk, a pair of Cranes flew in and showed very well on the first lagoon island. They did however have a number of coloured plastic rings on their legs, indicating that they were released birds from the Great Crane Project on the Somerset Levels. They were still nice to see, and even showed some ‘dancing’ display behaviour as the light failed.
